I have a particular soft spot for old and unloved furniture, pieces that have seen better days but can yet be beautiful and enjoyed for many years to come. The craftsmanship is to be honoured and they definitely last longer than our more modern pieces. Many an old chair or vintage seat can be found lurking around old homes and farmhouses around Northern Ireland.. the horror that many of then end up at the dump or tip instead of being rescued and upholstered. So if you are looking for upholstery services across Northern Ireland, contact me.
This vintage sofa was brought to me by a customer who had it rotting away in her shed, a lovely lady with a cosy farmhouse and several dogs lounging around the Aga..So she brought it over in her trailer with 2 of these dogs in tow. I'm an avid dog lover so we got on like a house on fire.! She also brought the green velvet fabric, which as you will see in the image were actually her old curtains and she loved the colour... Cost effective and sustainable!
So as I said she was of farming stock..wellies and a menagerie of animals, so she wanted to keep to her rustic farmhouse style for her sofa.
For the upholstery a wool tartan was chosen to tone with the green velvet which added a bright contrast but kept a cosy country theme to her interior.
Now if one or five of her dogs were to end up sitting on her newly upholstered sofa, its not for me to cringe or judge lol! Im just happy that this solid and timeless piece is being given a second chance. So If you have furniture hiding away gathering cobwebs, dig it out and give me a shout.
