So as ever, there are plenty of unwanted and unloved vintage pieces of furniture kicking about Northern Ireland, crying out for new upholstery to bring it back to life. This tired and worn piece was found on Marketplace in Northern Ireland for £30. This chair came with a broken leg, saggy bits, dodgy pink velour and a badly chipped crest. However, the frame was solid with no woodworm, the springs ok and the castors smooth as a whistle.
Definitely life in it yet!
All was needed was a good clean, leg mended, new padding and some classy upholstery fabric. Actually it was all a bit more tricky than that- and thorough. Each and every old staple and rusty tack removed, scratches re-stained and wood polished.
So bit by bit, it transformed.
I choose a neutral linen stripe fabric to appeal to the classic antique vibe of the chair, coupled with the double piped edging the upholstery really makes the chair sing again. Blending the vintage with a modern style.
Restoring furniture in Northern Ireland isn't just work for me, they are definite passion projects, its saving little bits of history and turning them into something that can be loved again. Good upholstery work brings new life into not only the piece of furniture, but can transform the look of your home.
I can cover all the 6 counties of Northern Ireland with many upholstery needs, Antrim to
Aughnacloy, Templepatrick to Tempo, Belfast to Buckna, but please note I don't usually take on large jobs such as suites etc.
*If you have a chair thats looking a bit tired, I'd love to help you bring it back to life.
